OUR RECRUITMENT FOCUS IN THE GREATER CHINA MARKET
Local managers for foreign companies, where the goal is to increase local market share with bilingual Chinese-English or multilingual managers who have strong track records of success in the markets of China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, or in the Asia-Pacific Region as a whole.
- Our emphasis in this kind of search is to find managers who perform well in accordance with the business culture of the foreign company. In addition to being fluent in Chinese and English, ART has candidates in certain industry sectors who are fluent in other European or Asian languages, allowing for stronger communications between HQ and the local market.
- Whenever possible, for this kind of search we seek candidates who have worked at their best in this role at foreign firms. We take particular care to try to find people who are accustomed to working in a business model that resembles that of the client company. A person who works well at a top, large Chinese, Taiwanese or Hong Kong firm, for example, might not be the right person as employee #1 at a foreign greenfield business unit in China, Taiwan or Hong Kong.
- Our objective in this search is to find candidates who are sensitive to both the business culture of the home company and to that of the local Chinese, Taiwanese or Hong Kong customers or staff. The objective is to find a leader whom the foreign company can trust to run their business, while effectively reaching local customers and employees in a way that they will find comforting.
- We also recruit foreign managers who have strong track records of management in the Greater China region, along with education and employment experience abroad, frequently from Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, the United States, Canada, or Europe. Some of these candidates are fully fluent in Chinese, while others are not. Some require expatriate benefits packages, while some do not.
- Searches might be at the national level or sub-national level (China Country Manager, Taiwan Country Manager, Hong Kong Manager, North China Manager, South China Manager), Greater China level, or pan-Asia level: CEO's, COO's, CFO's, Presidents, Managing Directors, General Managers, Vice Presidents, Country Managers, Sales and Marketing Directors, National Sales Managers, Finance Directors, Financial Controllers, Plant Managers, Manufacturing Directors, Supply Chain Directors, Sourcing Directors, Logistics Directors, and other senior managers.
